08.06.2024 Auf den Spuren der Trailrunner in Porto Moniz

Anfahrt: Calheta - Ponta do Pargo - Miradouro dos Pombais

Verlauf: Ziel der Runde war, die neu eröffnete Trailrunning-Trainingsstrecke rund um Porto Moniz zu entdecken, die auf ein paar neu freigelegten Wegen verläuft, die bisher nicht begehbar oder unbekannt waren.




Der Einstieg erfolgte am Miradouro dos Pombais. Wir folgten den Zwillingslevadas Levada dos Pombais inf. und Levada dos Pombais sup., bis sie sich trennen. Die Levada dos Pombais inf. fliesst weiter talwärts Richtung Miradouro do Ponta da Ladeira. Die Levada dos Pombais sup. unterquert den Caminho dos Pombais und verläuft anschliessend etwas unterhalb dieses Caminhos nach Osten.
Wir bleiben auf der Levada bis zum Schluss, dann weiter auf dem Caminho da Volta do Carro nach Norden, bis der gut ausgeschilderte Trail auf einen unscheinbaren Feldweg abbiegt.
Diese Verbindung zum Miradouro da Faja Nunes (oder laut Google Maps 'Miradouro do Pico da Assumada) wurde neu freigeschlagen und die etwas ausgesetzte Felspassage mit einem Seil gesichert.
Ab hier der Strasse entlang und etwas abwärts, bis wir auf eine weitere Hinweistafel stiessen, die uns auf einem schmalen Feldweg wieder bergwärts zum Miradouro do Pico führte.
Ab hier auf dem CR23 (oder hier Vereda do Pico) angenehm hinunter Richtung Porto Moniz. Einen kleinen Abstecher entlang der hübschen Levada das Fontes zur alten stillgelegten Butterfabrik (Antiga Fábrica de Manteiga) und zur eindrücklichen Mühle weiter durch Porto Moniz, immer den Pfeilen nd Schildern nach, bis es wieder hoch Richtung Vigia da Baleia und dann zum Caminho da Ladeira. Auf diesem weiter hoch bis zu einem weiteren Pfeil, der uns über eine unscheinbare Levada zum Miradouro da Santinha führte.
Ab hier ein Stück der Strasse entlang, dann über Feldwege schliesslich zum Unterlauf der Levada do Moinho.
Ab hier dem PR7 entlang, bis die Levada do Moinho auf die Levada do Brasileiro trifft. Den beiden hier parallel verlaufenden Levadas sind wir gefolgt bis zum Abzweig des Endastes der Levada do Moinho, der unterhalb von Porta da Vila die unzähligen Reservoirs in einem kaum überblickbaren Irrgarten von Kanälen und Tunnels speist. Dieser wichtige Endast führt weiter bis nach Pombais und ist für die Bewässerung der oberen Dorfanteile zuständig.
Auf dem Rückweg zum Miradouro dos Pombais konnte ich ein weiteres Rätsel lösen, ich fand den Zugang zum Stollen, der die Madre der Levada dos Pombais sup. mit Wasser versorgt. Abzweig der Strassenlevada entlang des Caminho Fajã dos Bois.

Ende: 17.10 Miradouro dos Pombais

Zustand: Die Levadaabschnitte sind alle problemlos und gut gesichert
Die Passage zum Miradouro da Faja Nuñez ist ausgesetzt und etwas rutschig, aber mit einem Seil an der Felswand gesichert.
Der Aufstieg zum Miradouro do Pico ist schmal, aber gut zu begehen.
Die Aufstiege über Treppen und den Caminho da Ladeira sind ziemlich steil.
Die kleine Levada unter dem Miradouro da Santinha und die weiteren Feldwege sind problemlos, wir haben gegenüber dem Trail eine etwas andere Wegführung gewählt, weniger Strasse und mehr Levada!

Bemerkungen: Schöne Kombination von Levadas und Feldwegen mit vielen tollen Aussichtspunkten.
