Japan war auf unserer Reise gesetzt, weil uns unser Schiff aus Nachodka hierhin brachte. Wie wussten, dass Japan für Rucksacktouristen sehr teuer ist. Also wollten wir unseren Aufenthalt hier möglichst kurz halten und auf die Gegend rund um Tokyo und Kyoto beschränken.
Wir haben dann aber schnell gemerkt, dass Japan ein faszinierendes und einfach zu bereisendes Reiseland ist, vor allem wenn man aus der Sowjetunion anreist.
Wir haben auch entdeckt, dass hier Unterkünfte in Jugendherbergen komfortabel und günstig sind und dass man per Anhalter hier sehr schnell vorwärtskommt. Wir haben zuvor noch nie Autostopp gemacht, hier haben wir uns Kartons besorgt und die Namen der Zielstadt aus der Karte abgeschrieben. Kurzer Test bei einem Einheimischen, ob das auch richtig geschrieben war.
Es dauerte, wenn man an der richtigen Strasse stand, jeweils nur ein paar Minuten, bis ein Auto anhielt und uns mitnahm.
So wurden aus unserem Kurzaufenthalt 7 Wochen, vor allem die Zeit auf Hokkaido im Herbst war traumhaft!
In keinem Land sonst konnte wir unseren Rucksack am Bahnhof deponieren und eine Wanderung unternehmen, ohne dass etwas gestohlen wurde.
Wir haben sehr herzliche Leute getroffen, aber auch immer viel Zurückhaltung gespürt und auch gemerkt, dass hier zu Reisen oder hier als Ausländer zu Wohnen sehr unterschiedliche Sachen sind.
Ein softer Einstieg in die asiatische Mentalität, schon in Südkorea sollte sich das ändern!
